This isn’t a heavy post. This is a post filled with light.
I have a new obsession with something I once didn’t like.
All of these photos are of LED lampposts. When they went up in our city, I missed the dim orange glow of the older, shorter posts that they replaced. These new posts illuminated our bedroom at night, which faces the street, in a way that felt less moonlight and more floodlight. Change, as they say, is hard…however energy efficient.
But life feels most miraculous when beauty reveals itself in unexpected places, I think. When I saw that light burst against the wet gray in the photo above, I inhaled sharply. No need to search for happy–this is it. Can you hear the sound of sparklers?
These lamps are orbs at dusk, and they glow, and glow, and glow.
They’re steady. There is celestial goodness in them, I’m sure of it.
And they make my walks home take forever.
